Iran, Russia reaffirm strong ties, vow to deepen cooperation
TEHRAN - In a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, Iran's Acting President Mohammad Mokhber congratulated Russia on its Independence Day and emphasized the strategic nature of Tehran-Moscow relations, built on enduring principles.
Mokhber highlighted Iran's commitment to fully implementing all agreements, particularly in trade, transit, and energy sectors. He also stressed the importance of strengthening legal frameworks for mutual cooperation, citing examples like the North-South transit corridor, BRICS, and the Eurasian Economic Union.
Putin echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the recent approval and signing of a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Union and Iran as a foundation for expanding commercial ties between the two countries. He hailed the agreement as a suitable ground for the development, strengthening, and dynamism of the commercial relations between Iran and Russia.
